Hi Linuxy.
If you like simple, non-accelerated "blast 'em up" games, try 'Penguin Command' this is a enhanced clone of arcade classic 'Missile Command'.

A great "bat 'n' ball" game is 'LBreakout2' As suggested, a 'Breakout' clone -- Both games are on Debian repo's. and are small in size Smilie Sehr glücklich

Did a ./configure --prefix=?usr (Which I believe is the standard for Debian Distro's) and everything wnt OK.

Then did make and got this error message:

cc1plus: warning: command line option "-Wmissing-prototypes" is valid for Ada/C/ObjC but not for C++

After this there are a number of other make errors.

Tried Synaptic to locate these but cn not find them.

Any idea's Frage

I am trying to use Konstruct to download and compile KDE 3.5 Alpha 1 in order to avoid the need to rely on deb packages but it is taking a long time for it to finnish. (Slow m/c Intel 3 @ 550mhz).

Kano is right when he says that Debian is a 2 - 3 year development cycle.

Even the much vaunted KUbunto still have not got 3.4.2 fully functional.

I am not a techy, but I can apprecaitr the headaches of maintaining new upgrades. It's just a shame that Kanotix are not able to maintain it's own versions of current KDE packages.

Better still would be to presuade mein kinder that Packman and Carmen will work on Linux - you just call them by a differnt name Sehr glücklich

linuxy,

You can check out the "alter-ego" forums of Kanotix, where Kanotix, in essence, came from, and they also "steal" a lot of what Kano devolps...

Called Knoppix, they also have forums, and, in particular, have a "Games" Forum...

For the kids huh??? try "jump n bump" - do an apt-cache search for exact package name... its fun, cute, can be "de-violent" 'ed for the lil ones... You even get a good many of "background" environments to play in...

You play the role of a rabbit, you have to "jump" on top of your opponent to get points, they, in turn, get "killed" and come back to the game after a few seconds... and the game continues... Not too graphics intensive, as far as I know, and is a fun game Smilie

Well you can judge these flight sims for yourself.

Flightgear http://www.flightgear.org/
YSflight http://www.flightsimhq.org/ysflight/
GL-117 http://www.heptargon.de/
Palomino http://www.palomino3d.org/
You can get some of these through apt.
apt-get install xsabre gl-117 flightgear

I personally love Flightgear but it's not really a game. There are no weapons on the aircraft and there are no explosions when you crash. Instead Flightgear is aimed at those wishing to learn to fly and the models in Flightgear have characteristics very closely matching the real aircraft (so I'm told).

Not free but a very excellent flight sim if you like gliders:

I've read that it's possible to get some of the M$ flight sims to work under WINE but I'm in no position to make any recommendations.

Found a pretty good site with some native Linux games - you can get free trials or buy the full version.

I thought this was interesting:
Zitat:

Dirk Dashing features:

* No blood, no gore, no fist-fights, no gratuitous violence of any kind - Dirk uses knockout gas grenades to put his enemies to sleep, and other non-lethal means to defeat them!

Liquid War

Eternal Lands

Alien Arena

Everybody Dies
(Linux version in the works)

Tremulous

Freespace

Lugaru

Garage Games

TC Elite

Secret Mario

I've certainly seen several emulators but never taken the time to figure out what it is you do with them. OK so they emulate the original device that these games run on sure but.......where do you get the games from? Do you need to already own these games?

You can download them, but yes, legally, you are suppose to already own the game.
