Hi,
I have just run the gauntlet of the Acrotix installer, which is rather more difficult than Debians own installer.
It also introduces many error messages at grub boot, complaining of disk errors etc but finally booted.
KDE control module when accessing peripherals-printers froze up, and did not work until removing and reinstalling Cupsys.
Then I found it has the Lenny kernel 2.6.22.x bug and would not print with my Samsung ML2010 B&W laser.
Kernel 2.6.18.x prints fine with this printer.
I have reported this bug to Debian, and it has made its way into the latest Ubuntu 2.6.22.x kernels too which are at first snapshots of Debian kernels.
Fonts in KDE needed beautifying also.
Well done Kano releasing this one , I am sure it will become Debian with the Pizzaz once again.
Best of luck
El Zorro

The "disk" errors may be because of dmraid, but thats not critial, just ignore em. It is needed to support even drives in raid mode.

Hi Kano,
errors sure slow up the booting process, with lots of buffer errors.
Other programs such as xine-ui and Kaffeine needed uninstall and reinstall before they worked.
Installing apt-get install kde helped some file editing matters with kate too.
Guess the installer scrambled a few things.
Regards

Must be your cd or the kernel has problems with your system. Did you boot with unionfs cheat? Thats only for testing, aufs is more secure.

I have, I think, the same problems on my friends box, he has a cable converter so he can attach a ata hd to sata on the mb. With this connected we get a lot of errors on boot and both hd on that sata channel are not working. I have to tell that I tried SIdux also and there is exactly the same problem. Xp and Vista works, as well as an old Knoppix with 2.6.17 kernel and also Kanotix Cebit edition (don't remember which kernel, but you know) works without problem.
Is there a possible workaround? My friend wants to test Linux and I think Kanotix is an easy and good way for him to start.

Edited:
This is probably a hardware problem and may therefore be in the wrong forum?

Use legacy mode in bios not ahci when you do that.

I'm at my friend now and unfortunately his HP Pavilion:s bios doesn't give us the option to set the hd in legacy or (p)ata mode.
