Ok, i've been thinking about setting up an e-mail server for a long time, but none of them looks really easy to handle from the outset. I know Qmail (mostly by name) from work a few years ago, where a sysadmin employed it with lots of fun, it seemed. He was able to integrate virus scanners, spam filters and what not quite easily. Basically what i find important and what not:

- I don't care much about webmail features but it can't hurt, i guess.
- Scripting support would be nice, e.g. running a Perl script for every e-mail that arrives
- Good integration with Debian/Kanotix
- Not overly complex or professional. And if it is, not being forced to set it up only in the complex way.
- Able to handle ESMTP et al.
- Secure
- Flexible/customizable
- Configurable via /etc and not just via some web interface, although it's ok if that's an addition.

Any thoughts? Cool
