Titel: confusion....h2 script or apt-get upgrade?  BeitragVerfasst am: 24.02.2007, 21:01 Uhr

Hello, I am confused. I had been using H2's script and had no problems. I only started using it because of all the constant trouble here and there with doing apt-get upgrades. There seemed to always be some kind of warning.
Well now that H2 is not supporting the script anymore, and it will be a matter of time before it won't be usable, what is safe to do?
I am not a fanatic about upgrading frequently, but it would be nice to upgrade, say maybe monthly or every other month. Just to keep the main programs current.
Is it safe to run apt-get upgrade at all? I did try SIDUX on a separate maching but was not sure if I wanted to go further with that. Any suggestions? Überrascht

@w1av
If I'm right, h2 is now working on sidux, no longer at kanotix.
I think, the script is not longer working with kanotix.
I tried sidux and for me, it's working very well...
Download the final version "2007-01 chaos" and try it.
There was a way to change an existing kanotix to a actually sidux, but I don't know, if this will still be able.

@wlav: or do it the conventional way:
in Konsole become root,
type init 3 (the x-server shuts down) and in the login window type
root
password
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

just did it with Kanotix-2006-01RC4 install and everything worked well.....

DO NOT use h2's script in Kanotix. If you run it, it will modify your system and it will NOT be Kanotix any longer. There's a lot of chances that Kano's scripts won't work anymore.

h2 dropped Kanotix support quite a while ago. (nov 2006?). Do as gs sugguests, drop to init 3 and use apt

I know the script has its own nitch and confess to never using it, but it is not really that hard to do it the conventional way.
