Start beryl automatically

KDE:

There are two ways to start beryl in KDE:

A: Just activate beryl-manager for a specific user:

echo "
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Exec=beryl-manager
GenericName[en_EN]=
StartupNotify=false
Terminal=false
TerminalOptions=
Type=Application
X-KDE-autostart-after=kdesktop"
> ${HOME}/.kde/Autostart/beryl.desktop

B: It is also possible to create beryl.desktop in

/usr/share/autostart to enable beryl-manager for all KDE-Users

Gnome:

Just start your gnome-session and run

gnome-session-properties

and add beryl-manager.

xfce4?(>=4.3.99):

xfce4-autostart-editor

Simply add beryl-manger as entry.

Possible ways to solve problems:

If beryl-manager fails to start you might want to try to delete its configuration:

rm -rf ${HOME}/.beryl*

If xfce4? still starts compiz, you could try to move gconf out of the way by doing:

rm -rf ${HOME}/.gconf*

Important: The configuration-files are going to be remove without any warnings!
