Hello:

I installed kanotix after using knoppix and I really like this secund more. But I have a problem. I installed kanotix-2006-easter-rc4 and my soundcard is not runnning. I have run alsaconf and it doesn't work too. My soundcard is a Max Sound Muse. Driver cm8738. If i run knoppix 5.0.1 it works well, but in kanotix not. This is what I see runing dmesg:

Hmm, I have onboard sound using the cm8738 chipset, you have a seperate card right, no onboard ?. What happens if you go in the bio's and turn plug & pray off ?

Hy again:

My soundcard is a non mother board one. It is separate. The commands devil says to execute don't give many information:

andres@amd800:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards
--- no soundcards ---
andres@amd800:~$ cat /proc/asound/modules
andres@amd800:~$

Coult it be a kernel problem? I've tryed installing a different kanotix kernel and it doesn't work too.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sorry for clincking in.

Your seperate Sound-card does not get any IRQ

ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:0a.0 disabled
C-Media PCI: probe of 0000:00:0a.0 failed with error -16

and is therefore disabled by the bios.
Linux can't access this card with a missing IRQ.

Make sure that your sound-card got an IRQ from the bios and the card will work
