Hello all,
I have a HP Deskjet 3847 printer connected to my laptop and it is detected as HP Deskject 3840 when I tried to add the printer in the Control Center. The test page didn't come out and the printer didn't work. I changed the driver to 3840 hpijs, 3845, 3845hpijs but no luck. modprobe lp
echo lp >> /etc/modules
apt-get remove --purge cupsys
apt-get install cupsys cupsys-driver-gutenprint hplip

Had same problem yesterday using an Epson Color 880 hooked up by parallel port to a machine running easter rc4 that was dist-upgraded yesterday (my wife's machine! I'm making progress!). Printer seemingly installed OK, but no test pages or anything. Performed the 'cupsys shuffle' as described above and it now works fine.
