Titel: Darstellungsfehler 6600GT
Ich habe neulich bei eBay eine gebrauchte GF 6600 GT erstanden, um meine Radeon 9800 Pro abzulösen. Nachdem ich sie nun eingebaut habe, tritt ein Problem auf.
Ich habe die Karte mit dem aktuellen stabilen Nvidia Treiber, sowie dem Beta Treiber getestet und in beiden Fällen treten aus unerklärlichen Gründen immer wieder Grafikfehler auf, wie hier z.B. bei America's Army:
Soweit ich das bis jetzt sagen kann, tritt das Problem nicht mit dem nv treiber auf und hauptsächlich bei grafikintensiven Anwendungen.
Das Problem betrifft auch Kubuntu, das als Zweitsystem für die anderen Benutzer installiert ist.
Mehrere Male kam es zum kompletten Systemfreeze.
Eine weitere Seltsamkeit ist mir aufgefallen: Nach der Installation des Treibers mit Kano's Script wird fälschlicherweise "ati" als Treiber eingetragen, aber das dürfte nichts mit meinem Problem zu tun haben.

Als erstes dachte ich an das Netzteil, allerdings sollten die 550W ausreichen, vielleicht könnt ihr mir weiterhelfen.
Ich bin für jeden Hinweis dankbar.

Teste das mal im Live mode mit
sudo install-nvidia-debian.sh
Normalerweise kann es ja nur sein, dass irgendwelche alten Treiberreste da rumspinnen. Denn du hast eindeutig Konfigoptionen drin, die nur bei ATI vorkommen.

Danke für den Tipp. Allerdings hat der Verkäufer bereits zugegeben, dass die Karte ab und an Fehler zeigte. Er nimmt sie zurück.
Zu den Treiberresten: Ich habe den fglrx, wie von dir empfohlen, mit
COLUMNS=200 dpkg -l|awk '/fglrx/{print $2}'|xargs -r dpkg --purge
entfernt, also sollten alle Reste weg sein. Die xorg.conf muss ich aber dennoch reinigen, da ich in jedem Fall eine Nvidia kaufen werde.
Welche Möglichkeiten habe ich denn, die xorg.conf zu korrigieren?
