Anything goes - Stripping down Kanotix to just an Xserver. rich.bradshaw - 24.10.2006, 20:20 Uhr Titel: Stripping down Kanotix to just an Xserver.
I am thinking of using Kanotix as an xserver on windows in a virtual machine (using vmware). I want to be able to tunnel graphics over ssh on Windows from a Unix machine, and feel like doing it an interesting way! (ps. are there any easy ways of doing this in windows natively?)
So far I have installed xfce and have typed "apt-get remove kde*" I want to get it stripped down so that it has a relatively small footprint and so can run easily in Windows. What else can I safely remove? Has anyone done anything similar? My internet is pay per gigabyte, so I don't want to download massive programs...
Thanks for your help...
Rich

Do you know how to use Xming with QSclient or Putty? How do I enable X forwarding in Putty and get it use Xming as the X server?
