Dear All,
I have kernel 2.6.15.6-kanotix-1 on my athlonxp1600+ 1gig ram memory and 500 gigs of harddrive, and I have kde 3.5.2. I was able to play .mid files on rosegarden at first than after a few songs I could no longer import or open midi files. I would get this error: Error when parsing file: error occurred while parsing element at line1 column 1. Also, when I could open a mid file and play it bars would move but there was no sound.
All of my other sound apps work just fine, lmms, ardour, audacity, zynsubfxadd, timidity, but so far I cannot get a peep out of rosegarden4 or open a midi file. I have researched this for a couple of days now and found some others are having the sound problem as well. I have tried suggested fixes that I cannot remember now, but the bottom line is they have not resolved the problem for me. My soundcard is via onboard 8235 or the like anyway it has presented no problems before. In fact when I first installed rosegarden4 and played some mid files about 3 weeks ago it worked just fine without my configuring a thing other than jack.
I really want to use this app. I know it is great.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

try following steps
1. start a console
2. switch to superuser (root-user) [su]
3. 'modprobe snd_seq'
4. exit su
5. 'jackd -dalsa'
6. 'timidity -iA'
7. start ROSEGARDEN from the gui - it should work |
