And when are they tatooing a serial number to people's foreheads? Maybe a GPS tracker inserted up your ass for good measure as well? Seems like privacy is fast becoming a crime. |

seems like the seizure was related to a crackdown on child pornography, not an operation directed against Tor or against anonymous surfers in general. |

Sounds like what Jiro is saying... As the blogs report, they are only going after "determined IP" addresses, that were decyphered from a sting operation dealing with "child pronography".
I tend to believe that... An old boss I worked for, a creepy individual, had the FBI with paper, come into his business, and home, and remove about 20 computers, and printers. It was found to be the same reason as Tor. They (apparently) were looking for child pron on his systems, which, they "knew" he had. They stated to my aunt, they have ways of decyphering where the photos came from, and tracking them down. It wasnt so much they got him, but, they hope to gain a "internet" trail along with his information, on where they came from. Tor may just be the same. (imho)
From what I hear, the FBI is intent on finding these people, then, going after the ones who actually are making it, and distributing it. If thats the case, all I can say is, good job, this kind of stuff is just not right, in my book - if they are just invading the privacy, or the privacy of people, then, I think thats wrong, but, even in the blog, somethings can be "perverted" into wrong doings...
As a case in point: "business transactions" - could be I dont want my competitor to know what deals I am making, and, then again, it may be drug dealing, spy tactics, or intrusion adversion. I dont mind privacy, legal, but, as for the illegal, which is a main reason some people want anonymous activity, I just dont know. I guess the reason is what I care about. If its intrusion into my private life, as a legal citizen, doing my legal work, legal job, etc... I dont like the idea... If its something illegal, I guess if I was doing it, I'd want the same as someone who is doing "legal" things, but... Child Pornography??? I think I have to draw the line, its very personal to my whole family... It has been found that my Step-Grandfather, and now my Step-Uncle have been either "doing" things to children, or "looking" at it, both my mom and my Aunt have been victum to assault by one of these people... I guess I cant be impartial in this matter...
Sorry, |

Let's see what they do. Time will reveal their true intentions. Seems to me that if they are just after what they claim they just needed the relevant data, not to take down the entire system. I smell a rat!
It's very easy to hide behind a smokescreen; oppression usually starts under the guise of safety. We hand over liberty piece by piece until there's nothing left but totalitarianism. One picks the most effective threat to achieve the most effective result. |
