          | I have a Canon i865. When I try to install it I get the message:The CUPS server could not be contacted. Trying to install it I get this outcome:

 Code:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
cupsys: Depends: libdbus-1-2 (>= 0.62) but it is not installable
 E: Broken packages
 root@KanotixBox:/home/xx# apt-get install libdbus-1-2
 Reading package lists... Done
 Building dependency tree... Done
Package libdbus-1-2 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package libdbus-1-2 has no installation candidate

any ideas how to solve the problem?

          | Thanks to the "Master" I now have the CUPs installed!
But I'm not able to find a proper driver for the i865. In another forum I read that the BJC 8500 omni driver worked, but that is not an option in my config. Canon is perhaps not especially linux-friendly.

Well accoring to linuxprinting.org your printer does not work under Linux.

It's listed in the paperweight column 3rd printer down.

 Greetings,
 Chris

Sorry, was in hurry and wrote in German.
The Canon i865 works either with Turboprint (commercial), or even better with free drivers from:
 http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takushi/canon-pixus.html
However, the quality is not impressive - it's a real "paper weight".
 Greetings,
 Chris

Hmm I must have been drinking when I replied to that post. I looked for info on the wrong printer.
It seems your printer is listed in the 'Partially' column. |
