Titel: Which processor-intel conroe or amd?

Dear All,
Hello, I am planning to upgrade my computer from athlonxp 1600+ to a whole new motherboard and cpu. I am comparing intel conroe e6600 dual core with either 5200+x2 amd or amd opteron 180 dual core. I want to keep my 1 gig of ddr memory so I am looking at 939 boards or the ASRock 775 dualvista board if I choose the intel conroe processor.
I run the kanotix 2005-4 now . I do alot of music editing work as well as home movie editing. I know I want dual core, plus I wish to give **censored** a real go finally unless someone knows of something better for intense movie editing that is free hopefully.
The biggest question I have now is which processor-intel conroe or amd? I always liked amd better until this new conroe came out and the reviews are getting very convincing. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
