hello everybody: I am using (i think) Kanotix Dragonfire it 2014-kde. I recently tried to update iceweasel to firefoxbut realised that I must have root privileges in order to do so. To my horror my password does not work: it is not that I have forgotten it , I wrote it down as soon as I first used it so no case sensitive mistakes should occur. Is there any way that I can retrieve it or must I reload Kanotix on my computer? |

At startup you can enter the grub edit mode and add "init=/bin/sh rw" at the end of the linux line, remove "splash". The you can use "passwd" to change your root pw. "reboot" then. |
