Hello
Can you please tell what is the status of Kanotix?
I read somewhere in the German forum that Jörg Schirottke is busy and no longer maintaining this distribution?
Is it possible to merge forces with another distribution (for example:
https://neptuneos.com/en/start-page.html
)
in order to revive this project?

It says "preview 100%" about Debian 12 - is it beta quality or safe to use in day to day?
Who is "retabell"?

The slowfire-nightly's are the (day)-current iso's based on debian 12 (bookworm)
They are made for daily use.
Retabell is the active maintainer of the iso creation.
A little advertising never hurts

I've installed the KDE version on SSD of desktop computer.
The acritox installer didn't work for me - I got a black text screen with "grub" prompt.
Only Calamares installer worked.
KDE is great but I prefer a lighter desktop (Xfce instead of LXDE would have been much better).
I wish I had some graphics skills to contribute, a refreshed looks is much needed.

You can also install other window managers.
For example, if sudo is activated
This gives you the standard packages for starting xfce4
Code:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install xfce4 xfce4-goodies
For example as root
Code:
su
apt update
apt install xfce4 xfce4-goodies
When logging in, you can select the window manager.
Under Login Manager lightdm at the top of the bar.
With other login managers it is in a different place.
If automatic logon is activated, then log off once.
Select the window manager and log in again.

Thank you for your suggestion.
I will try it in the near future, but the KDE version (I don't like LXDE although I prefer a lighter desktop than KDE).

Hello
I have downloaded the LXDE version yesterday.
First impressions in live mode:
1. It is unclear why both acritox and calamares are offered. Calamares installer is well known and widely used and should be enough.
2. Congrats! the wavy text in boot "Towelfire" transported me back to the 1980s 
3. There are graphical distortions while moving items on screen. Picture:

4. The wallpaper should be refreshed, it looks outdated.
5. If I were to install Kanotix to SSD, I would have replaced LXDE with Xfce. IMHO LXDE is a weird choice for a lightweight desktop.
For now, Kanotix will not replace Debian+Xfce as my daily OS.
