Hi,
ich habe ein Packard Notebook mit einer Radeon Xpress 200-Grafikkarte. Der neuester Ati-Treiber ist installiert, aber dennoch läst sich die Bildschirmauflösung nicht einstellen.
Ich kann mit knxcc die Auflöung ändern (auf 1400x1050) biem Neustart xon X erscheint aber nur die Auflösung von 1024x758. Unter Windows ist 1400x1050 kein Problem.
In xorg.conf ist unter Screen und der Farbtiefe von 24 1400x1050 eingetragen.
Was tun??

Also ich besitze die auch, und bei mir hat folgendes funktioniert: 915resolution muss installiert sein (auch wenn Kano sagte, dass das nichts bringt - ohne ging's net), dann als root fix-resXXX und in der Xorg.conf den radeon Treiber eingeben (oder das knxcc erledigen lassen). Danach ein Neustart und alles war gut. Ist denn bei Dir der fglrx-Treiber in der Xorg.conf angegeben?
Hatte mit dem bis dato Probleme, da dann X nach einiger Zeit einfriert, aber die Auflösung konnte ich damit auch richten... Stabil wurde es dann mit radeon.
Vielleicht hilft's Dir ja auch.

danke für die Antwort, aber was heisst "915resolution muss installiert sein"?
Der fglrx-Treiber ist in der Xorg.conf angegeben.

Manilg: 915ressolution ist ein Chipstatztreiber für das Notebook.und bedient im gegensatz zur docu den ATI-Chip ebenso. ati hat anscheinend von intel, oder umgekehrt, hilfe für ihre pci-e-bridge bekommen. |

Also ich versuch es nochmal. das einzige, das ich noch nicht gemacht habe ist:

Beherrscht das nicht auch "aticonfig"?
Funktioniert bei mir einwandfrei, es erledigt zumindest bei 1280x800 den ganzen Kram von alleine. aticonfig --setresolution=1400xirgendwas, glaube so heißt der Befehl, wär vielleicht nen Versuch wert. |

Hi,
"aticonfig" verlangt die Eingabe von "screen= ", aber ganz gleich welche Zahl ich eingebe, es kommt nur die Fehlermeldung "screnn not found", "Speicherzugriffsfehler".

nimmm nal alle modlines aus der Xorg.conf raus, und ersetze mal die Zeile
Option "UseInternalAGPGART" "no"
durch
Option "UseInternalAGPGART" "yes"
ebenso entkomentiere

hi manilg,
ich hab auch ati-200xpress . . . und genau, wie schnorrer richtig schrieb: nimm unter etc/X11/xorg.conf alle modeline heraus: löschen per editor und abspeichern . . .
rate ich Dir das auch zu tun,
ebenso schau deine zeilen vsync und hsync unbedingt in deinem "handbuch" nach . . .
bei mir ist (ftf-monitor - kein notebook: ab 31.47 - 85 ) !!!
danach mach reboot und gib wieder Bescheid ...
