Well, i really don't like giving this advice (not good to be root), but if you must
/etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc ---->edit as root (right click -> actions -> edit as root)
change
AllowRootLogin=false to AllowRootLogin=true |

I wonder if you are trying to log into your desktop as root? If so this is not only unnecessary but also a bad idea. Log in as user, open a shell and become root in the shell. You can launch anything you want as root from that shell. |

Along with everyone else, you shouldn't use X as root ... and its not worth digging up the threads you can search...
However like mzilikazi says you can log in as your user and then open a terminal as root ...
If you open a basic terminal then type xhost + (this allows other users to connect to the desktop owned by user) then su and export DISPLAY=:0.0
then open the application ...
However almost everything needs to be run as root will open from the menu and prompt you for the password.... |

The only time I log in as root is when I want to change the single click to double-click style in the control center so what when I use the file manager in supermode I can double click. Unless there is someway to change it without logging in as root. |

Launch the Kcontrol center thing as root. |
