Starting Adept I get message: Another proces is using packaging system database. Apt-get also not working. Reboot does not help. Some proces must be self starting.
Don't know what to do. 
I have dual boot with Xandros 4. |

PAn,
i would remove adept, it seems to be buggy.
after rebooting there should be no process blocking anything.
you could also start htop in konsole, hit F3 and enter dpkg and hit enter.
kill any process that shows with dpkg with F9.

i had the same problem while trying to install ClamAV.
Adept just kept throwing out error message Another proces is using packaging system database.
In the console i logged in as root and executed
apt-get -- configure -a
ClamAV got configured. Next time while starting Adept did not give any errors. |

Devils idea worked. Removed adept and had no probem, using Kpackage . There were some other problems with install: it lost ADSL connection data every time it was turned off, didn't find both CD roms . I could fiddle with fstab, etc but I don't have time. I tried Simplymepis 6 and everything works. I'm not happy with it based on ubuntu - I prefer straight debian. But since no Kanotix 2006, I tried Mepis. I will probbaly make multiboot when it comes out.
On My machine both this distros blow the doors off new Xandros 4.0 |
