          | Hello,
I see that actually three kernels are offered, what do mean the extensions for the different kernels : what kernel to use for a upgrade on AMD 64 bit

 Stable Kernels

 2.6.17.13-kanotix-2
 2.6.17.13-slh-up-1
 2.6.17.13-slh64-smp-1

 Kind Regards

          | For standard 32 bit Kanotix use the first, for Kanotix 64 the last one. The up kernel is basically special purpose. |

          | Hello Kano,
Thx I will use the last stable kernel. But as you allow me what is the meaning of the up kernel and/or what mean the slh in the name.

 Sorry for being curious.

 kind Regards

          | hello rvlerick!
the slh in the name means that this specific kernel is build by slh and up means that this kernel is build for systems with only one processor ( the other kernels are always compiled with smp support )

 Greetings, EvNu

          | You might want to note that some systems (unfortunately almost all of my computers) have hard lockup problems with the smp kernel. I have no problems with the up kernel.
The up kernel seems to be the "safer" choice. It is also the logical choice if you have no need for smp.
