I need help understanding how to make the computer talk to my mobile phone. I have an LG phone, along with the appropriate LG cable, and when the cable connects the computer and the phone, the phone shows up in a list of devices attached to the system. The problem is that I cannot find software that will allow them to sync w/one another, or I simply do not understand how to make the software I have accomplish the task. My goal is to sync my PIM information with Kontact and my phone. Any advice? |

Maybe bitpim works. This document while specific to Suse seems to give a decent overview of using the software. I cannot comment on the usefulness of this software since I don't have an LG phone. |

Be very careful with bitpim...broke KDE. Screwed up multiple libraries. Had to reinstall KDE after removing bitpim. |

I don't use KDE so I couldn't tell you how to fix it. If you used the rpm to install bitpim then I am not at all suprised to see some problems. BitPim is distributed as open source and free software under the GNU General Public License so the source must be available somewhere. I did not see it immediately, perhaps ask the devs where it is if it's not on the site and build that instead. A word of caution - never use alien to install an rpm on a Debian system no matter who tells you it's ok. |
