allo,
habe am Wochende SuSe runtergeschmissen und Kanotix installiert.
Alles lief top, nur jetzt ruckelt's bei der Videowiedergabe von DVD (auf beiden Laufwerken).
War vorher kein Problem.
DMA ist aktiviert.
Hat jemand noch eine Idee ?

Ich bin mir zwar nicht sicher, ob das wirklich notwendig für eine ruckelfreie DVD-Wiedergabe ist, aber ich würde mal die proprietären Grafiktreiber per Skript installieren, falls du eine neuere Nvidia oder ATI-Karte hast (falls noch nicht gemacht).

| Mir schwant Übles, denn meine alte Matrox G45+ hat mit RC4 keine 3D-Beschleunigung mehr, obwohl als Treiber "mga" geladen wird. Reinhard, was ist denn die Ausgabe von:

Und kannst du glxgears aus der Konsole starten? Bei mir muckst es nicht einmal. |

Wird überhaupt der X11-Matrox Treiber benutzt, oder etwa der unbeschleunigte vesa oder fb Treiber ? (siehe auch Log-Datei /var/log/Xorg.0.log)
Sollte in der /etc/X11/xorg.conf Datei stehen (Beispielausschnitt):

Dort das vesa (oder fb) durch mga ersetzen und X11 neu starten.
lt. man mga sollte eine G550 unterstützt werden.
Im Hilfsprogramm knxcc scheint man Matrox nicht wählen zu können darum obige 'Handarbeit'.

| Der Treiber ist dabei, er muss nur noch geladen werden. Boote bitte mal die Kanotix-LiveCD mit dem Cheatcode xmodule=mga. Dann sieh dir die Datei /etc/X11/XF86config-4 an. Wenn da "Driver 'mga'" steht, kannst du die Werte in die xorg.conf der Festplatteninstallation übernehmen. Falls das geklappt hat, bitte mal glxgears in der Konsole starten und auch den o.g. glxinfo-Befehl eingeben. |

Habe mal nach fbdev* gesucht und an der Stelle dann auch
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/mga_drv.so gefunden.
Also mga statt fbdev und
__alles super__
nur der TFT - Monitor meint noch die Frequenz sei etwas zu hoch. Arbeitet allerdings trotzdem.

Allerdings setzt mir jemand ständig die Auflösung von 1280*1024 auf
1152 * 864 zurück, die ich mit dem Kanotixeintrag im ControlCenter auswähle.

Reinhard, hast du Kanotix vor der Installation mit dem Cheatcode xvrefresh=60 oder vsync=60 gebootet? Das würde die Probleme mit vesa und der Bildwiederholfrequenz erklären.
Probier mal folgende Änderungen:
1. VertRefresh 60 => VertRefresh 75
2. DefaultColorDepth 16 => DefaultColorDepth 24
3. SubSection "Display"
