Okay thanks op4latino, I will burn the CD using this program.
I put it to 8x
Do I need to check off "Fix Close" and/or "Read Verify"? |

no, no need of "Fix Close". it will tell you if you need it.
"Read Verify" is optional. You should, tho.
I'm off for a while... |

Thanks for the help this is great and simple for just burning this Kanotix. Why doesn't everyone just use this easy way with Windows XP
lol This might sound like a stupid question and it probably is, but I'll ask it anyway just in case.
Is it possible to put Kanotix on an external HD and boot it from there and install it to the primary HD? lol
Then delete the Kanotix off of the external HD afterwards |

That's a stripped down version of kanotix known to boot from externals HD
or
http://biohackery.com/node/4#howto biohackery has good how-to (EDIT: This a PMI)
or
look for PoorManInstalls (PMI) in the forum.

Zitat:
k3b defaults are not correct, and have to be set manually to DAO
I've always just left it at auto and it writes the iso as DAO (or actually SAO). The only thing I change is the write speed dropping it from 24x to 4x.

What?!! I can buy some software or install something which is confusing me when I try and burn a Kanotix iso OR I can just use something out of the box using the Kanotix CD that I already have? I stopped using XP over a year ago and it isn't the 'easy way'.

Yes. Download the iso of your choice and follow the instructions here:
How do I use "fromiso" cheatcode?
My menu.lst contains this stanza for 2006-01-rc4:
title KANOTIX-2006-01-RC4.iso
kernel (hd0,7)/Kanotix/vmlinuz ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off nomce quiet
fromiso=/Kanotix/KANO*.iso vga=791 noprompt noeject keyboard=es xkeyboard=es myconfig=scan
initrd (hd0,7)/Kanotix/miniroot.gz
You'll need to adjust to suit your installation.
saludos,
Richard. |
